My dreams have become more active as I move further into 2026. Lately, I’ve been reviewing them during my morning walks with Joy, listening for what my guides may be trying to show me.
This morning, I almost dismissed one of those dreams as “just fun.”
Then I felt a gentle nudge: “Try again, Matt.”
So I did. I revisited the dream with more openness, and what first seemed like a strange nighttime scene revealed itself as a message about fear, the unknown, and the part of myself I am being invited to meet.
The setting of this dream was at night. I was standing on a long platform that connected across a deep chasm. I could see a set of stairs behind me and a set of stairs ahead of me. I had this feeling that I was in a game of sorts and both set of stairs represented the choice I needed to make in order to move forward in the game.
As I came to the understanding that I was in a game, I realized that the stairs behind me is where I just came from. Also, I felt this pressure from this set of stairs that made me uncomfortable. As I continued to look in this direction, I realized that zombies were closing in on me. I decided to look at my other option, the unexplored stairs ahead of me.
I remember seeing the stairs ahead me in white. They were perfectly balanced and at peace. Before I would make a move towards them, I allowed my eyes to follow where this new set of stairs would lead me to if I decided to take them.
As my eyes traced this new path way I saw a fast moving blue light coming from the opposite direction. I panicked! I assumed this was simply a zombie that happened to glow in the dark. I immediately turned around and went back the set of stairs that I came from. The set that included a herd of zombies.
As I navigated the herd, I remembered how to distract them from my presence. I took one of their un-dead compatriots and used them as a shield. This zombie shield would mask my scent and movements until I needed to get to safety.
I then found myself entering a lobby with my zombie shield companion and entered an elevator. Then I woke up.
As I reflected on this dream, I realized that both sets of stairs held their own important spiritual representations. The stairs behind, and the herd of zombies that resided there, represented the unconscious form of myself that I have left behind. The zombies were the habits, thought patterns and belief systems that would only harm me if I returned to them.
The stairs ahead of me which were balanced, at peace and pure represented meeting my true self by entering into the unknown. I took a moment with my realization about the stairs that were ahead of me and thought of that blue light. In the dream I panicked when I saw it. It was unknown and moving fast towards me but had no indication of causing me harm.
I feel now that the blue light was my true self excited to meet me in the unknown. I laugh about it now but my instinct to run away from this blue light is a good reminder of how the unknown can skew our perception of reality.
Instead of taking the risk to move into the unknown, I took a step back into my unconscious reality where I lived for so long. Even though this area of my self isn’t good for me, it provided me safety by being familiar. I knew how to adapt to the zombies of this side of the platform by taking on my own zombie as a shield.
Metaphorically this is very powerful for me since the zombies of the stairs behind me represent my former habits, thought patterns and belief systems.
In the last week I find myself revisiting habits of drinking too much caffeine, creating thought patterns which include stories of powerlessness or hopelessness and belief systems that I lack self-worth as well as self-acceptance.
Although these metaphorical zombies are not good for me, I am familiar with them so I returned to them. My guides are showing me that it’s time to take risk and that it’s safe to embrace myself.
That’s all for now! Thanks for reading and have a great present moment!
Matt

Dreams never occur by chance. Our brains are composed of billions of neurons, housing countless stored memories. While fear and frustration often manifest as negative dreams, nature has endowed us with a resilience that also serves to guide and alert us. You have expressed a very subtle psychology through your dream.
In fact our highly active subconscious mind is capable of calculating potential future outcomes, which we often experience as intuition or premonition. This reflects your deep insight—that you are not merely observing your dreams, but actively deciphering the underlying 'causes' and 'signs' within them. This level of awareness is a significant milestone in your spiritual journey."
